I knew I wanted to be a teacher in 5th grade when I had a wonderful teacher named Mr. Sardone in New Milford, Connecticut. I'm not really sure what about him inspired me, but he did. Later on down the road, I got my Bachelors Degree in Specific Learning Disabilities for K-12 and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I taught in Special Education in Florida for 9 years, then moved to 1st Grade as the General Education teacher in an Inclusion class for the next 5 years. I've since moved to South Carolina and after being a Personalized Learning Coach and a Special Ed/Intervention teacher, I moved into a position as an Technology Integration Specialist for the Berkeley County Special Education Department. The best thing about education, it changes from year to year and I still love it!
My personal story in short... I'm married with two kids. I love spending most of my time with friends and family, the rest of the time I get sucked into my computer with Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter or anything else someone has recommended that I HAVE to check out. Twitter has been an amazing resource for continuing my educational journey. Building my PLN and finding resources for the teachers and students I work with is my passion. I'm a Level 1&2 Google Certified Educator and I just became a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
If I'm not working on something Technology related or with "real" people, I love to decorate, sew, and read (during summer and holiday breaks).
Okay, now that I've started rambling, I need to stop writing. ;) I hope you enjoy my blog and please feel free to contact me with suggestions, tips or other general comments. Happy Teaching! ~Pam
