I knew I wanted to be a teacher in 5th grade when I had a wonderful teacher named Mr. Sardone in New Milford, Connecticut. I'm not really sure what about him inspired me, but he did. Later on down the road, I got my Bachelors Degree in Specific Learning Disabilities for K-12 and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I taught in Special Education in Florida for 9 years, then moved to 1st Grade as the General Education teacher in an Inclusion class for the next 5 years. I've since moved to South Carolina and had many new learning opportunities over the last 7 years as a Personalized Learning Coach, Special Ed/Intervention teacher, Technology Integration Specialist, and now an Instructional Coach. The best thing about education, it changes from year to year and I still love it!
My personal story in short... I'm married with two kids. I love spending most of my time with friends and family, the rest of the time I'm communicating with my PLN through Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter. Twitter has been an amazing resource for continuing my educational journey. Building my PLN and finding resources for the teachers and students I work with is my passion. I'm a Level 1&2 Google Certified Educator as well as a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
If I'm not working on something Technology related or with "real" people, I love to decorate, sew, and read (during summer and holiday breaks).
I hope you enjoy my blog and please feel free to contact me with suggestions, tips or other general comments.
Happy Teaching! ~Pam @specialtechie
