HyperDocs Handbook

The HyperDoc Handbook by Lisa Highfill, Kelly Hilton, and Sarah Landis was the perfect addition to my summer reading!
I also joined the HyperDoc Bootcamp in June. It's one thing to read a book and use what you've learned on your own, it's another to have a group of educators to learn with! There's still time to join the July Bootcamp if you're interested! You can find more information here or click on the image below to register. There is a registration fee, but it's worth the expense!

What is a HyperDoc?

"Transformative, interactive Google Docs that replace the standard worksheet method of delivering instruction." This digital lesson design and delivery of instruction provides "the teaching pedagogy" to help make "important decisions about what to teach and how to teach with technology to redefine the overall student experience." Each HyperDoc "begins with a strong lesson design, curates quality instructional content, and packages learning in a way that engages learners." It also "shifts the focus from teacher-led lectures to student-driven, inquiry-based learning allowing students to learn through exploration."

Social Media... A Love Hate Relationship

Social Media can be a time sucker, but it can also be the best way to reach an audience in a positive way. It's out there, we can't fight it, so we may as well use it to benefit our school communities.

I've been reading Lead Like A Pirate by Shelley Burgess @burgess_shelley and Beth Houf @bethhouf. Really, If it has PIRATE in the title, I'm going to read it. I'm not an administrator, but all educational stakeholders can play a leadership role if they are passionate about making their schools amazing, right?!

What Are Blogging Buddies?

One of my goals this year was to blog more often. I haven't done as well as I'd like to so far. Summer is the perfect time to start good habits, right? Luckily, I found ISTE's Ed Tech Coaches Blogging Buddies. I figured this would be the motivation I'd need to be consistent!

What are Blogging Buddies?This is information directly from the site linked above.
"Blogging Buddies were inspired by Jennifer Hogan's "Compelled Blogger Tribe!"
It's designed to be a chance for Ed Tech Coaches (and those tasked with helping teachers integrate technology) to connect, network and learn from other coaches via blogging. Many ed tech coaches value blogging as a form of personal growth and reflection in their practice, but don’t always receive that online feedback in the form of comments from our coaching peers that we’re hoping for. So Blogging Buddies groups will be made up of about 5 ed tech coaches bloggers who come together to commit to posting on their blog at least once a month, read one another’s blogs, comment on one another’s blogs, and share the posts with their own networks. That’s it!"
